Why Plain Text Emails Are Your Secret Weapon for Sales Campaigns

It's Mark from Dahaus Digital, and I want to share a tip that's been crushing it for our e-commerce clients lately.

You know those big sale campaigns you're planning? The ones with those beautifully designed emails?

Here's the thing: You're probably leaving money on the table if you're not adding plain text reminder emails to your campaign sequence.

Here's why this matters:

  1. Deliverability is STILL King

  • Plain text emails have higher inbox placement rates

  • They bypass Gmail's promotional filters more often

  • ISPs generally trust them more than heavy HTML emails

  1. The Pattern Interrupt Effect

    After sending those flashy sale announcements, a simple plain text follow-up feels more personal and urgent. It's like getting a note from a friend rather than another promotional blast.

Real Example:
One of our clients recently ran a drop campaign. Their sequence looked like this:

Day 1: Announcement
Day 2: Plain text reminder ("Quick reminder - sale ends tomorrow")
Day 3: Final call
Day 4: Plain text last chance ("Hey, noticed you haven't grabbed our products yet...")

The plain text emails accounted for 35% of total campaign revenue. 🤯

How to Implement This:

  1. Write like a human being

  2. Keep it short (2-3 paragraphs max)

  3. Include just ONE clear call-to-action

  4. Use simple formatting (dashes, asterisks)

  5. Test different sending times (mid-afternoon often works best)

Quick Template You Can Steal:

Subject: quick reminder about [sale]

Hey [name],

Just wanted to make sure you saw that [product/collection] is on sale until [time].

Didn't want you to miss out – here's the link if you need it: [link]

The beauty of plain text? It takes 10 minutes to set up but can recover otherwise lost sales.

Action Step: Add at least one plain text reminder to your next campaign sequence. Test it against your regular campaign performance.
